The Power of Speaking Your Vision

Recently, I met with a new client who called me because he is getting published, a huge accomplishment for any aspiring writer.  As we began to dive into the creative process with our eye on how to initiate and establish an ethos (our word for personal brand) while also leading up to promoting the new book, a divine thing happened: he spoke his vision, the dream he’d yet to give words to.

This happens often when I’m in process with an artist, writer or entrepreneur: for the first time in their lives they speak out the truth of a dream or a vision which has long been planted in their hearts. Giving breath and words to our great hopes has value for so many reasons.

On Personal Branding

Last week Jen Hatmaker vulnerably shared her pain in response to what she called, “The Christian Machine” taking her down after she came out of the closet affirming same-sex marriage as holy. That is its own nightmare and not the one I’m tackling today because I don’t yet have gracious words for the Machine, whoever they are.

Dear Future Client

There are so many things I want to tell you.  To start, you are vastly important to the world.  The Spirit of Life has good and meaningful and important ideas and opportunities and dreams for you and in you.  You probably feel this. You probably feel some tension between the life you are living and this alternate reality which lingers in your mind and heart.  You have a good life.  You don’t want to complain.  You are a good person.  Things are stable.  Your marriage is fine. Your job is working for you.  You can live with this.

But something won’t let you let go of the idea that the universe has more for you; that you have not even begun to fulfill your potential; and that some deeply embedded dreams need to make their way out of your heart and into the world.  You are not alone.  Many of us carry unfulfilled longings and desires.  Many of us have believed we could make a difference, create an impact.
